Illinois prices same day handling for articles of organization in the statute itself, yet publishes no standard processing time for the ordinary lane, a verified absence on this sheet. The annual report comes due before the first day of the anniversary month. The tax card shows another checked absence: no franchise style charge lands on an LLC.
The assumed name is the recurring detail readers miss: the state registration runs only to a fixed point in the calendar and then renews on a cycle, rather than living indefinitely. Its filers split by business form, the company at the state and others locally. Each renewal window is part of the record the page quotes.

Illinois calls it the assumed name, and splits the filing: an LLC registers with the state, while other business forms file locally. The state filing costs $150.
5 years
The registration runs from the filing date until the first day of the company's anniversary month in the next calendar year evenly divisible by five, then renews for successive five-year terms. Only LLCs and corporations in good standing may adopt an assumed name electronically.
not required
no exclusive right
Registering an assumed name with the Secretary of State discloses the name but grants no exclusive trademark right. It does have a practical effect: a registered assumed name is one of the records in the Section 1-10 distinguishability test, so the state will not register a later entity or assumed name that is not distinguishable from it while yours stays active. County assumed-name certificates filed by sole proprietors carry no statewide protection and are not centrally indexed.
The Secretary of State's business search returns LLC and corporate assumed names filed with the state, because they share the entity records used for the distinguishability screen. County assumed-name certificates for sole proprietors and partnerships sit in each county clerk's records and are not in the state search.

Registering an LLC formed elsewhere is its own filing in Illinois. The registration costs $150. That price belongs to a separate filing event, so it enters no cost total on this site.

Who may serve as an LLC's registered agent is its own rule in Illinois. Illinois lets a natural person serve, so no commercial agent is required. The LLC itself may also hold the seat.

Every figure on this sheet renders from the pinned dataset snapshot, and each card links the page its own figure came from. This list collects those pages in one place, with the duplicates removed and the agency named.
The rule behind every figure here, and what a card does when one cannot be verified, sits on how a figure gets verified.
