A state filing ledger · 50 states + DC
record 18 of 51 · /llc/louisiana/
The Commercial Division receives Louisiana's LLC filings, prices expedited formation, and leaves its standard processing time unpublished, an absence the sheet records as verified. The annual report comes due on the anniversary date, in the state's own words. No recurring state tax reaches an LLC, a fact checked with the revenue agency.
The trade name is where expectations break: registration grants no exclusive right, because the state's infringement remedies attach to marks, yet the certificate enters the same distinguishability records as entity names. An active registration therefore blocks a later entity name that cannot be told apart from it, and the screen runs in both directions. There is no separate parish index to check.

Office or storefront in Louisiana?
A business with a real footprint in Louisiana files in Louisiana. Forming anywhere else adds a foreign registration back home: two filings, two annual bills, two registered agents. The out-of-state discount does not survive that arithmetic.

No late fee is published for a missed report, and that is a checked finding rather than a gap. It is not an all-clear: the state can still dissolve the LLC by administrative action, and section 09 carries that record.

Louisiana calls it the trade name, and keeps one statewide register for it. The state filing costs $75.
10 years
Registration is effective for ten years from the date of registration and may be renewed for successive ten-year terms on an application filed within the six months before the term expires. After expiry the previous registrant may still renew at any time, while anyone else must first give the former registrant sixty days' notice by certified mail.
not required
no exclusive right
A trade name registration is a notice filing. Louisiana's infringement action and its remedies under La. R.S. 51:222 and 51:223 run to the owner of a registered mark, and R.S. 51:211(C) defines a mark as a trademark or service mark, which a trade name (defined separately in (D)) is not. The registration does carry a practical effect at the state level in both directions: R.S. 51:215(A)(1) lets the Secretary of State issue the certificate only if the trade name is distinguishable from, or not the same as, a trade name, LLC, partnership, or corporate name already in use, and R.S. 12:1306(A)(3) screens new entity names against registered trade names, so an active registration blocks a later name that is not distinguishable from it.
Trade names registered with the Secretary of State appear in the same Commercial Division records search as entities, since they are part of the § 1306 distinguishability records. Louisiana keeps DBA filings entirely at the state level, so there is no separate parish (county) index to check.

Every figure on this sheet renders from the pinned dataset snapshot, and each card links the page its own figure came from. This list collects those pages in one place, with the duplicates removed and the agency named.
The rule behind every figure here, and what a card does when one cannot be verified, sits on how a figure gets verified.
