Virginia's registered agent seat is the narrow one on this sheet: the LLC itself is barred from it, a researched refusal, and the state's own sentence conditioning which resident individual qualifies prints verbatim beside the allowed finding. The annual registration fee falls due as the anniversary month ends, and no recurring entity tax sits behind it.
The assumed or fictitious name is perpetual until released and stays out of the entity name screen, so registering one collides with nothing on the register. Expedited review is sold with same day and next business day response windows, while the office publishes no standard time. The certificate files with the State Corporation Commission.

Virginia calls it the assumed or fictitious name, and keeps one statewide register for it. The state filing costs $10.
Perpetual (until released)
A certificate of assumed or fictitious name does not expire and is not renewed; when the name is no longer used, the filer records a Certificate of Release with the Commission.
not required
no exclusive right
An assumed or fictitious name is disclosure only and grants no exclusive right. Unlike most states in this dataset, Virginia keeps assumed names out of the entity-name distinguishability screen: § 13.1-1012(E) provides that the use of assumed or fictitious names under Chapter 5 of Title 59.1 does not affect the LLC naming chapter, so a registered assumed name does not block a later entity name and an entity name does not block a later assumed name.
Certificates of assumed or fictitious name are filed with and searchable through the State Corporation Commission's Clerk's Information System. Because the 2020 reform centralized filing, there is one statewide record rather than 133 separate circuit-court indexes.

Registering an LLC formed elsewhere is its own filing in Virginia. The registration costs $100. That price belongs to a separate filing event, so it enters no cost total on this site.

Who may serve as an LLC's registered agent is its own rule in Virginia. Virginia lets a natural person serve, so no commercial agent is required. The LLC itself may not hold the seat, which is a separate question.

Every figure on this sheet renders from the pinned dataset snapshot, and each card links the page its own figure came from. This list collects those pages in one place, with the duplicates removed and the agency named.
The rule behind every figure here, and what a card does when one cannot be verified, sits on how a figure gets verified.
