An Oklahoma trade name never expires

Oklahoma receives LLC filings at its Secretary of State, and the annual certificate is due on the formation anniversary. No franchise tax sits on this record, a verified absence, and no standard timeline is published by the office. What it does sell is same day filing, priced per document on the form itself.

the rest of this note

The trade name report never lapses once filed, and it is notice rather than a right: exclusive rights come from a trademark registration, not from the report. Registered trade names still enter the screen that new entity names are checked against, so the filing blocks in practice what it does not own in law. Either the company itself or a resident individual may take the agent seat here.

How long it lasts

Perpetual (no expiration)

A Trade Name Report does not expire and is not renewed; it remains on file until the filer withdraws it while the underlying entity stays in good standing.

What the filing protects

no exclusive right

A Trade Name Report is a notice filing; exclusive rights in a name come from a trademark or service mark registered under Title 78, not from the trade name report. It does carry a practical effect: because § 2008 screens new entity names against trade, fictitious, and reserved names, a registered trade name blocks a later entity or reserved name that is not distinguishable from it while active.

Where to search existing names

sos.ok.gov

Trade names registered with the Secretary of State appear in the same business records search as entities, since they are part of the § 2008 distinguishability records. Oklahoma keeps DBA filings entirely at the state level, so there is no separate county index to check.

Where do these figures come from?

Every figure on this sheet renders from the pinned dataset snapshot, and each card links the page its own figure came from. This list collects those pages in one place, with the duplicates removed and the agency named.

The rule behind every figure here, and what a card does when one cannot be verified, sits on how a figure gets verified.
